Tauros make big trade

The offseason has just begun for the Minot Minotauros. The Robertson Cup concluded on Tuesday night, opening the door for a window to officially make offseason acquisitions.

Cody Campbell, the head coach and general manager of the Minotauros, wasted no time in boosting his roster on Wednesday when the Minotauros announced that they have acquired Hunter Longhi from the Wisconsin Windigo (formerly Minnesota Magicians), in exchange for Cole Mickel.

Longhi, a forward from Colinsville, Ill., has spent the last three seasons playing in the NAHL and is entering his final season in the league. In 151 regular season games, Longhi has scored 56 goals and 70 assists, for a total of 126 points in that span.

Last season with the Minnesota Magicians, he totaled 62 points on 26 goals and 36 assists in 59 games. In the 2021 Robertson Cup Playoffs with the Magicians, Longhi netted three goals and two assists in 10 games.

During the 2021-2022 NAHL regular season, Longhi ranked No. 13 among top scoring skaters in the league. Additionally, he was named the NAHL Forward of the Month in February of 2022, where he totaled 15 points on six goals and nine assists in seven games.

Over the last two seasons, the Minotauros have finished near the bottom of the Central Division in goals scored, so adding a talented player like Hunter Longhi will provide a much-needed boost in the scoring department.

The price to pay for a player like Hunter Longhi, however, was a big one as the Minotauros had to part ways with team captain Cole Mickel, who spent the past two seasons in Minot.

Over the course of two seasons, Mickel played in 99 games with the Minotauros, where he totaled 49 points on 13 goals and 36 assists. Mickel, like Longhi, is entering his final season in the NAHL.
