Minot High’s Landry Maragos signs with Concordia College softball

Early Wednesday afternoon, the Concordia College (Minnesota) Cobber softball team announced the commitment of Minot High School outfielder Landry Maragos on Twitter.

Maragos helped the Majettes win their first Class A state championship in 2018 and earned WDA All-Conference honors in 2019. Minot seized a 4-2 victory over Dickinson in the 2018 state title game.

The Majettes broke West Fargo’s streak of nine consecutive NDHSAA sanctioned Class A state tournament victories. Since 2009, only Minot and West Fargo have won state titles.

Last season, Maragos posted a .475 batting average (56-for-118) and swiped 44 bases.

“Landry’s personality and spitfire give our team a lift to get after it,” MHS softball head coach Gerard Cederstrom said. “The team feeds off her energy. Her speed is incredible.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Maragos did not take the field for her senior season. The NDHSAA announced the cancellation of all spring sports and winter tournaments last Friday.

Maragos is a member of the MHS National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She was also a part of the Majettes basketball team and played summer softball with the Minot Storm fastpitch program.

“She has a great work ethic and attitude,” Cederstrom said. “She will be a great teammate.”

According to Concordia’s Twitter page, Maragos joins seven other softball recruits in the signing class.

“We look forward to following her college years,” Cederstrom said. “She has a lot left in her game. The Magi nation wishes her nothing but the best. We are always there for her.”

The Cobbers tallied a 7-5 record in non-conference play before their 2020 season was canceled due to the pandemic. Concordia is part of the NCAA Division III Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
