MSU baseball adds seven to start signing period

The Minot State University Baseball team has brought in seven incoming student-athletes early in the 2020 signing period.

The Beavers have added Gage Yost, Alex Manibusan, Trevyn Badger, Xavier Gonzalez, Griffin Shearon, Gunnar Kozlowitz, and Cameron Bagshaw.

Yost, a right-handed pitcher out of Rosemount, Minn. was named Honorable Mention in the South Suburban Conference.

“Gage is from my hometown, so I know and trust his High School coach very well. Coach Swanson has said nothing but good things on Gage, and we liked what we saw from Gage when he was on our campus,” said Eul. “Gage is a high ceiling arm that is going to be very exciting to watch the next few years.”

Maniubsan is an infielder from Cerrito, Calif. who received many accolades for his play over the past couple of years, earning first-team all-league, and all-area as well as co-MVP in 2019. In addition, he was named as the Cerritos Defensive Player of the Year and won a scholar-athlete award.

“Alex stuck out when I saw him play due to his baseball IQ and the excitement he brought to the game,” said Eul. “The talent speaks for itself, and Alex has come highly recommended by his High School and summer ball coaches. We are very excited to welcome Alex to the Beaver baseball family.”

Trevyn Badger is another right-handed pitcher who comes out of San Tan Foothills High School in San Tan Valley, Ariz.. Badger was honored with all-state, all-county, and all-conference in each of his past three seasons. He also won all-area, region, and district athlete of the year in his time there. Also, he was named student of the year in his last two years. Eul was excited about Trevyn.

“Trevyn is a gamer. He is going to bring a work ethic to our program that will raise the bar for everyone and has the talent to excel. Trevyn comes from a well-coached high school program, and we are excited to watch what he can turn himself into wearing a Beaver uniform.”

Xavier Gonzalez is a catcher, also out of Arizona. He attended Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Ariz.. Xavier was named to the 6A Second Team All-Region team as a catcher during his junior season.

“Every time we watched Xavier play, he was doing the little things right” said Eul. “He can play behind the plate, and when he was on campus, he was fun to be around. Xavier likes to work, which will fit in with the rest of our team, and we cannot wait to watch him get going here.”

Griffin Shearon is a right-handed pitcher out of Littleton, Co. He helped Mountain Vista High School win a 5A state championship. With his club team, he had an era of 3.01 and struck out 39 batters.

“We are excited about what Griffin is bringing to our program.” said Eul. “Griffin has a live arm and already has a good feel for how to pitch. Griffin comes from a big-time high school and good club ball team, so he has pitched on some big stages already. We can’t wait to get Griffin on campus and see him start working.”

Gunnar Kozlowitz is a talented hitter out of Heritage High School in Windsor, Colo.. While there, he led the state in home runs during his senior year and was named to the All-Continental league twice. Eul is excited about adding him as a power bat.

“Gunnar brings some more left-handed power to our team, which is always fun to have,” he said. “He has a nice frame to add more muscle and develop into a constant power threat. Gunnar is a great kid and a joy to have on campus. We are excited about his future in a Beaver uniform.”

Cameron Bagshaw is a right-handed pitcher from Lake Havasu City, Ariz.. Cameron displays a lot of potential as a pitcher that the coaches are excited about.

“Cameron brings a wealth of potential to our program, and the work ethic that I believe will help achieve that potential,” said Eul. “Cameron can pitch, and with his size and length, there are exciting days ahead for Cameron in a Beavers uniform.”

He threw a no-hitter during his senior year and led the state in strikeouts throughout the regular season. He was named to the first-team all-region team.

“This is a very talented class,” said Eul. “But we are more excited about the work ethic and the drive these guys have to get better. It fires me up when kids are excited to be a part of our Beaver baseball family, and all of these guys are excited. I know these guys will have productive springs and come in and be valuable members of our Beaver baseball program.”
