Girls Soccer: Jayva McKibben nets 2, Majettes shut out Demons
Jayva McKibben scored a goal in both halves as the Minot High girls soccer team recorded its fourth shutout win of the season, topping Bismarck High, 4-0, on Thursday, April 16, at Duane Carlson Stadium.
Kaylee Jackson put the Majettes (5-1-0 overall, 5-1-0 WDA) up early, netting a goal in the third minute. Bianca Cofell served a ball into the box that hit off the head of a Bismarck High defender and back toward goalkeeper Gabby Bruer. Jackson won the battle with her defender to the ball and buried a shot into the back of the net.
McKibben scored her first goal of the match in the 18th minute off a long pass off the foot of Aleah Gibbons to put Minot High up 2-0 headed into the break. She would add her second just two minutes into the second half on a shot from 10 yards out that slid inside the right post.
Camdyn Varty punctuated the victory with a goal in the 79th minute from 25 yards out.
The Majettes held a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal. Bruer finished with 11 saves, while Kynsli Gillmore stopped the lone shot she faced.
Minot High hosts Mandan on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Duane Carlson Stadium.
