Coy Johnson

Coy J. Johnson I, 42, Minot, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 24, 2022 in a Minot hospital.

Coy James Johnson was born on July 10, 1980, a son of Bert and Sherry (Strother) Johnson in Beaumont, TX. He was raised and educated in Nederland, TX, where he excelled on the high school swim team. He graduated from high school in 1998. Coy furthered his education by attending Lamont College.

Coy worked various positions throughout his working career; right out of high school he was employed at JC Penny, Best Buy and the Oil Refinery. The oil field industry brought him to North Dakota where he worked pipe line for Jones Contracting and Maxx Industries. Coy was currently enjoying his employment as a supervisor for UPS at the time of his passing.

He was once married to Natosha Witmer, from this union two children were born, Coy James II, and David Cole. The couple later divorced.

Coy met Sarah Kropp, with whom he was engaged to at the time of his passing. Coy lovingly welcomed her son Ethan into the family and were looking forward to the birth of their daughter in March. Coy enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, kayaking, camping, and even bull riding just for fun. He was a loving fiancée, dad, son, and brother. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Children: Coy James II, David, and a little girl on the way; fiancée Sarah and her son Ethan, mother Sherry (Neil) David; and Alan Dukes, who he considered as his lifelong father figure.

Coy was preceded in death by his father Bert, brother Cole, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation: Friday, December 30, 2022 one hour prior to the service at Faith United Methodist Church, Minot

Funeral Service: Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2 pm at Faith United Methodist Church, Minot

Burial: A private family burial will take place at a later date
