RUGBY – Tunes & Tastes at Tunbridge, a celebration of summer with music, food, drink and games will be held from noon-6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Tunbridge Lutheran Church, five miles west of Rugby on U.S. Highway 2, hosted by the Tunbridge Lutheran Church Preservation Society.
According to information from the society, taking the stage will be Billy Goat Scruff, a classic/southern/blues rock band covering music by the Allman Brothers, Bob Seger, Aerosmith and more. Based in Devils Lake, the three members of Billy Goat Scruff draw crowds wherever they perform. They are playing this gig as a favor to the Tunbridge Lutheran Church Preservation Society. Proceeds will support the final phase of the renovation, involving the church basement.
Music starts at 1 p.m. Free will donations will include a meal of pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, water and coffee catered by Stephanie Halvorson of the Balta Bar.
Tour the historic church and try your hand at horseshoes, Hammerschlagen, cornhole and tomahawk throwing. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen and bug spray. No outside food or beverages are allowed.
Tunbridge Lutheran Church Preservation Society is a nonprofit, organized in 2019 to preserve the turn-of-the-century prairie church as a historic landmark and community gathering place.
