Produced water spill occurs near Cartwright

CARTWRIGHT - An undertermined amount of produced water spilled from a pipeline about seven miles northwest of Cartwright Monday, June 1.

According to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ), Liberty Resources LLC notified the department of the spill on Tuesday, June 2.

The produced water released impacted surrounding pasture and a nearby spring. Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas production.

NDDEQ personnel have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and cleanup.
