Texas man acquitted by jury

A Texas man accused of rape and assault in 2021 has been acquited after a three-day jury trial in North Central District Court in Minot.

A 12-member jury returned its unanimous not guilty verdict in the trial of Conrad Polkosnik, 29, Farmers Branch, Texas, on Thursday. The three charges were one count Class AA felony gross sexual imposition, Class C felony aggravated assault, and unlawful imprisonment, a Class A misdemeanor. Penalties for a Class AA felony include life imprisonment.

The acquittal was signed and filed by District Judge Todd Cresap, officially closing the matter that has spent two years moving through the court system. Polkosnik’s attorneys, Philip Becher and Elisabeth Hewett, did not respond to requests for comment.
