Incident results in oil spill, fire
WATFORD CITY – A truck and trailer owned by Top Shelf Energy slid into a ditch, resulting in an oil spill and fire on Wednesday near Watford City.
The truck and trailer were leaving Kellogg Ranch Federal 2-32H1, a Continental Resources well site when the incident occurred.
The attached trailer was loaded with 232 bbl of crude oil, and the spill impacted a 30 by 150 yard area. The fire department responded to the incident and advised to let the crude oil burn.
A clean-up crew was enroute to the site. The local sheriff’s department, Continental Resources and Top Shelf Energy personnel were to remain on the scene to monitor and ensure remediation.
The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources was notified of the incident.
