New Homesteading Summit to connect community learners
WATFORD CITY – A new regional conference focused on self-sufficiency, sustainable living and traditional skills will take place May 15-16, 2026, at the McKenzie County Ag Expo in Watford City. The Prairie Roots Homesteading Summit is a two-day event connecting homesteaders, farmers, gardeners and makers from across the upper midwest to learn about soil health, regenerative practices, livestock care, gardening, food preservation, herbalism and healthy living.
The summit will feature workshops, keynote speakers and exhibitor booths tailored to the midwest’s prairie climate. Attendees who are curious or new to homesteading are encouraged to attend, as the summit will offer practical, actionable learning in an engaging, community-centered environment.
