11 establishments fail alcohol compliance checks
Eleven establishments in Ward County have been found in violation after failing recent alcohol compliance checks.
The compliance checks were conducted by the Ward County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the Surrey Police Department and First District Health Unit as part of ongoing efforts to prevent underage access to alcoholic beverages and promote responsible alcohol service.
The operation involved underage individuals working under the direct supervision of law enforcement who attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating establishments. When requested, the individuals presented their valid identification showing they were under the age of 21.
A total of 19 establishments were checked during the operation, and eight successfully complied with state law by refusing the sale, while 11 establishments sold or served alcohol to an underage individual.
The establishments in violation were On the Run Mobile on Highway 2 East in Minot; Idle Hours Lounge in Burlington; Son of a Brunch in Surrey; Z Bar in Carpio; The Grainhopper in Minot; City Limits Bar and Bottle Shop and M&K Pizza Hub in Kenmare; Douglas Bar in Douglas; Ryder Star in Ryder; K Bar in Makoti, and Pink’s Bar in Minot.
The businesses that failed the compliance check have been referred to the Ward County State’s Attorney’s Office and the appropriate licensing authority for consideration of criminal and administrative sanctions.
