Girls Track & Field: Majettes win pair of events, place 5th at Kiwanis Meet

Sophia Lade and Chinagozi Ugobi took the top spot in their respective events, helping the Minot High girls track & field team to a fifth-place finish at the Mandan Kiwanis Meet at Starion Sports Complex on Thursday, April 16. Lade won in the 800 meter event, crossing the finish line in 2 minutes, 25.08 seconds. She finished two seconds ahead of Bismarck High’s Hannah Hintz (2:27.08). The Minot High softball team snapped a six-game losing streak and earned its first two conference wins in the process, sweeping Turtle Mountain, 10-0 and 17-3, on Wednesday, April 15. The Majettes outhit the Braves 17-9 during the doubleheader. Their pitching staff of Fisher Anderson and McKenna Nygaard combined to strike out 17 batters across 14 innings of work. Whether it was on the mound or in the batter’s box, Minot North’s Brody Mueller was dialed in during both games of the Sentinels’ doubleheader sweep of Bismarck Century on Wednesday, April 15, at Corbett Field. Mueller took the mound in the opener, tossing a complete-game two-hitter, allowing one run while striking out 10. He also helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple, double and two RBIs in a 4-1 victory. Girls Soccer: Sentinels run winning streak to 4 with win over Saints

The Minot North girls soccer team added on to its program-best winning streak with a 4-0 victory over St. Mary’s on Thursday, April 16, at Our Lady of Victory Stadium. Julia Lewis netted two goals and Anistyn Perrin added a goal and an assist as the Sentinels won their fourth consecutive match and continue to hold the second spot in the WDA standings.
