Girls Soccer: Sentinels run winning streak to 4 with win over Saints
The Minot North girls soccer team added on to its program-best winning streak with a 4-0 victory over St. Mary’s on Thursday, April 16, at Our Lady of Victory Stadium.
Julia Lewis netted two goals and Anistyn Perrin added a goal and an assist as the Sentinels won their fourth consecutive match and continue to hold the second spot in the WDA standings.
Morgan Orth scored the lone goal of the opening half in the 10th minute off a feed from Kohlee Roberts that split the defense. Orth snuck past St. Mary’s back row and beat goalkeeper Aayla Stewart to put Minot North in front.
The Sentinels (6-1 overall, 6-1 WDA) struck for three in the second half, bookended by goals from Lewis. Her first came in the 43rd minute on a shot from 20 yards out. She netted her second in the 74th minute, burying a shot off a rebound. Brengiei Lonning’s initial shot hit off the crossbar and dropped straight down right in front of Lewis, who converted the chance from in close.
Sandwiched in between Lewis’ two goals of the second half was Perrin’s 48th-minute strike. Perrin took a pass from Kelcie Poe and rocketed a shot from 35 yards out that deflected off Stewart’s hands and into the back of the net.
Stewart finished with 13 saves as the Sentinels held a 17-4 advantage in shots on goal. Camryn Guy made four saves for her second consecutive shutout.
Minot North continues its seven-game road trip with a match at Bismarck High on Tuesday, April 21, at 6 p.m.
