Minot High boys hockey defeats Sabers

The undefeated Minot High Magi hosted the Bismarck Legacy Sabers for a Western Dakota Association (WDA) hockey game on Tuesday, January 21. This is the second time Minot High has taken on Bismarck Legacy.
The first game between the Magi and the Sabers ended with Minot High winning the game with a last second goal by Easton Panasuk with less than 0:30 seconds left. Upholding the perfect now 16-0 record Minot High won 4-1 over Bismarck Legacy.
The first period of the game left both teams dissatisfied, neither team scored a goal. Minot High worked the ice, passing the puck to try to create an opening.
The Magi took eight shots on the goal in the first period without any luck. Minot High had no penalties compared to Bismarck Legacy who earned a two minute penalty for too many men on the ice. The Magi and the Sabers finished the first period with a 0-0 tie.
Bismarck Legacy quickly started the second period with a goal from Bradyn Strom and an assist from Ben Garlie. The Magi kept working to find an opening. Strom for the Sabers got penalized for hooking giving the Magi the power on the ice. Teegan Strand found an opening for Minot High and with the assists from Easton Panasuk and Mackley Morelli, Strand made a power play goal for the Magi.
Ethan Davis for the Sabers had a major penalty, boarding, and gave Minot High the advantage once again. Morelli with an assist from Aidan Diehl scored the Magi’s final goal in the second period of the game. The Magi had one penalty by Panasuk just before the quarter ended. Minot High finished the second period with a 2-1 lead over the Sabers.
The Magi started the final period with an early even strength goal by Morelli with assists from Diehl and Oliver Deschamp. Strand for the Magi earned another penalty, roughing, and got two minutes in the box. Minot High kept the Sabers away from the goal while they were down a player and sustained their lead.
The Magi made once more a goal scored by Strand with an assist from Cade Erhart. Bismarck Legacy four shots on goal in the third period and no scores.
Minot High added one more win to their perfect record with the defeat over Bismarck Legacy.
The Magi will travel to Bismarck and will battle with the Bismarck High Demons Thursday, January 23. Minot High hosts Fargo North Saturday, January 25 at 3:00 p.m. for a non WDA game.
