Volleyball action abundant with local teams competing

The Lady Lions withstood the Bottineau Stars frame one 27-25 win, a loud and supportive visiting student second and the pesky players on the court for the 3-1 home win with scores of 25-21, 26-24 and 25-23 in the evenly matched outing.
Bottineau entered the game in third place of region six, district 11 while Bishop Ryan was at the same spot for district 12 in what promised to be a competitive match that did not disappoint.
Minot High 3, Watford City 0
The Majettes had little trouble with the visiting Wolves as Minot High handled the Western Dakota Association (WDA) match in preparation for the showdown with undefeated Dickinson on Saturday at Minot High.
Des Lacs-Burlington 3, Rugby 0
RUGBY – The Lakers made the trip east to tackle the Lady Panthers in Class B volleyball. The visiting team crashed the home court with 25-13, 25-17 and 25-17 scores against persistent Rugby hosts in the end.
Laker’s Logen Ystaas had nine kills at the net with six digs while Mycah Faken and Piper Feller each added seven. Feller had three aces and six digs while Faken had one block.Kaylee Werner had 24 assists and 8 digs in the win. Maizy Frey added two aces as well.
For Rugby, Alli Blessum recorded six kills while Lacie Deplazes and Reese Gullickson each had four kills. Deplazes also recorded an ace, one block and nine digs for the Panthers. Jesse Wolf had nine assists. Elise Fahnestock had seven digs, Ava Jacobson added five assists and Katie Sullivan had one block in the effort.
Kenmare-Bowbells 3, South Prairie-Max 1
Despite being ranked number one and team leader Azjiah Trader surpassing the 1,000 kill mark early in the game, The hosting Lady Honkers used attacks at the net to take the win.
Anne Stroklund had 15 kills, seven digs and three assists while Taya Aufforth added 14 kills for the hosting team. Aufforth added three blocks while Stroklund had one. Presley Zeltinger put up 43 assists for the Honkers in the win. She also had one block at the net as well. Brea Chrest had 19 digs while Lilibeth Santizo added 13 in the win.
Trader needed three kills for her 1,000th and ended up with 11 in the game to go with her seven blocks for the Royals. Skotti Beck also had seven kills in the effort while Abby Mikkelson had seven blocks at the net. Reagan Trudell posted 24 assists in the loss.
TGU 3, Nedrose 1
The Nedrose Cardinals hosted the visiting TGU Titans from Towner. The visitors won the first frame 25-20 and the home team evened the mark with a 25-17 win. The Titans took frame three 25-22 and the final frame 25-16 for the win.
Lilly Nelson had 12 kills, 18 digs, six blocks and two aces for the Cardinals. Kenna Huff added nine assists, three kills and one block in the win.
Williston 3, Minot North 0
The Coyotes welcomed the Sentinels and then sent them back home to Minot with the loss.
Our Redeemer’s 3, Velva 0
VELVA – The tenth ranked Our Redeemer’s volleyball team traveled to Velva to face the Lady Aggies. The Knights won 25-13, 25-11 and 25-19 on the road before heading back to Minot.
