It was a quick turnaround for the Majettes swim and dive team, as they went to Williston on Saturday for the Coyote Invitational after hosting West Fargo Sheyenne the previous day.

The quick turnaround, however, didn’t stop the Majettes as they looked to build off their strong start to the year and would succeed in doing so, taking second place at the invite and falling behind a tough Century team for the top spot by a slim 1.5 points.

“Our divers really rocked and helped lead our team to the runner up spot today. All four divers did exceptionally well and qualified for state with the first meet,” head coach Emily Jensen tells The Minot Daily News.

Jensen added, “They have put in some work out of the season and it sure shows. For Haley Conklin to get a 440 already this early in the season is so fantastic. She’s going to be a force in the upcoming years.”

The Majettes team put forth a valiant effort on Saturday, with highlights from the invite including multiple top ten finishes during individual and team events, as well as the divers taking four out of the top five spots in their event.

Sam Vonbokern (100- and 200-yard freestyles), Elise Altringer (50-yard freestyle), Haley Conklin (1 mtr dive), as well as the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Vonbokern, Altringer, Bostyn Edwards, and Ava Williamson all finished in first for their events, helping contribute to the 395.5 overall team score.

“The 400 free relay is always an exciting race at meets. Everyone is tired and usually everyone is excited for the last race of the meet. For us to win that at an invite against some of the top relay teams was a huge confidence booster for our kids,” Jensen said.

Century finished in first with 397. Rounding out the rest of the team leaderboard was Minot (395.5), West Fargo Sheyenne (358.5), Dickinson (298.5), Legacy (226.5), Williston (224), and Mandan (134).

In a pool full of talented teams, swimmers, and divers, the Majettes continued to put an exclamation mark on the start of their season and are building momentum with each opportunity.

Up next for the Majettes will be the LHS/CHS Dual, taking place in Bismarck on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
