STANLEY – Mountrail County Health Center in Stanley recently reached another milestone in a three-year, $53 million construction project.
The Mountrail Bethel Home dedicated a new 46-bed skilled and basic care facility to replace the former home, a 60-year-old building. The new nursing home has 36 skilled care beds and 10 basic care beds, as did the previous facility, which has been scheduled for demolition.
Visitors to the new nursing home walk into an open area with tall ceilings and large windows and are greeted by the nursing station. The new nursing home offers mostly private rooms, with more spacious rooms. Outdoor patios have been completed but final landscaping is scheduled this spring.
The Mountrail County Health Foundation received $15 million from Mountrail County in 2024 and $10 million last year toward the project. The $25 million is paying the bulk of the nursing home construction cost. Eight local Lutheran churches also helped support the project.
The next phase of the construction includes a new hospital gift shop, extended ambulance bay and extended hospital waiting room. A new ambulance garage was constructed previously.

The renovation now getting started will double the size of the hospital kitchen and create a new hospital entrance. The expansion will include space for MRI equipment and an infusion suite, both of which will be new offerings that will allow for more outpatient services. Pharmacy will be getting a new suite, and a suite area will be created for outside specialists who come to provide care.
The hospital renovation is expected to finish by the fall of 2027. A new wing also will be added to Rosen Place next year, bringing the number of units from 14 to 21.
If all goes as planned, Mountrail County Health Center will have its new look fully completed by December 2027.
