The Minot North baseball team scored three runs in the fifth inning to complete the comeback in Game 1, but was unable to complete the sweep after losing on a walkoff in the finale.

The Sentinels posted a 3-2 victory in Game 1 and dropped a 7-6 contest in Game 2 against Mandan on Wednesday, April 22.

Minot North (8-4 overall, 6-4 WDA) trailed 2-0 heading into the fifth inning before scoring three runs on just one hit to take the lead. The Braves committed two errors in the frame. Jace Price led off the inning with a single to right and moved to second on a walk issued to Mason Stewart. The Sentinels tied the game with a two-run error at first base off the bat of Brody Mueller. Mueller would score the game-winning run on an error at third base two batters later.

The Braves (8-7, 6-6) left a runner on third in the fifth and runners at first and second in the seventh.

Jack Tooke went 2-for-4 with two triples, an RBI and a run scored for Mandan.

Mueller earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs – both unearned – on seven hits. He struck out five.

All five runs in Game 1 were unearned.

Mandan salvaged a series split after a walkoff double from Eli Kleinknecht to break a 6-6 tie. Ty Weiler led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. The Sentinels elected to intentionally walk Miken Brahos before Kleinknecht ended the game on a 2-0 delivery from Ty Iverson.

The Sentinels had rallied from a 6-1 deficit, scoring four in the sixth and one in the seventh. Mueller hit a grand slam with two outs in the sixth off Aiden Bogner. Mueller was 3-for-4 with a home run, double, four RBIs and a run scored.

Minot North tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single from Brady Vigested, scoring Iverson.

Vigested and Logan Dixon each had three hits.
