The cost of water

Doug Pearson, Glenburn

In reference to the article that appeared in you March 6-7 issue of the MDN from Crystal Hendrickson titled ‘How to steal an election.’ She referenced the NPRWD elections that never took place.

This seems to be one of many things that goes on with this organization that its members are never made aware of. Seems the only thing they make sure their members know for sure is that there will be a 2% increase on water usage and a $5 increase on the base rates for 2019.

And for 2020 there will be a .$70 increase on the usage rate while they strive to keep input costs at a minimum while providing us with a quality product and exceptional service.

Why aren’t the members and public ever notified of any meetings the board has, or as stated, any elections that aren’t happening? Shouldn’t the members have some kind of say to what happens inside and to us? Is keeping costs at a minimum included in the flood lights (2) on the new water tower south of Minot and a paved parking lot at the NPRWD offices a way of keeping “costs at a minimum?
