MOHALL — Although the number of Canadian campers is waning due to vaccination requirements at the border, Mouse River Park is set to have another busy summer season.
Daryll Iverson, caretaker of Mouse River Park, said he is not concerned about camping attendance because the pandemic has prompted more people to take up camping, filling the state parks and many recreational areas.
Mouse River provides local options for food and entertainment. Danny and Sara Schlosser of Kenmare will run the bar and restaurant. Most needs can be met at the local store, as well as an ice cream cone fix.
Iverson, two other full-time employees and one part-time employee keep the grounds of Mouse River looking clean and ready for campers. The summer fills up fast with events and full weekends. On the Fourth of July, the park will host its traditional golf cart parade.
On rumors of paving the roads into the park, Iverson said, “Everything should be paved if someone else pays for it, and people don’t understand county budgets.”
The park attracts many seasonal campers and local people, but depending on the weekend, there are always first-come first-serve spots available. For camping reservations or questions, call Iverson at 386-2875.
