Hot Tots Tuesday night update

The Minot Hot Tots secured the win in their Tuesday night game against the Mankato MoonDogs.

Will Smoot and Anthony Temesvary scored on a single into left field by TJ Stottlemyre in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game 9-9.

Minot allowed two hits during the bottom of the ninth, but was able to prevent the MoonDogs from scoring a single run, leaving the score tied going into the eighth.

The eighth inning saw a defensive nightmare for the MoonDogs. Makato started out the inning with two pitching changes. First, Spencer Coon switched in for the MoonDogs on the pitcher’s mound, inheriting loaded bases and just one out on the board. A walk and error quickly earned Minot their next two runs and the lead with a new score of 11-9.

The next two runs were also brought in from walks, and a third was brought home after Christian Stratis was hit by a pitch. The score was then 14-9 before the MoonDogs switched pitchers again and brought out Aidan Norris.

During the very next at bat, a single into left field by Will Smoot brought home the Hot Tots’ last runs of the game, bringing the score to 16-9 at the start of the bottom of the eighth.

Minot once again held Mankato at bay, not allowing a single run in the half. Minot was not able to score in the top of the ninth, but at that point it did not matter. Their lead was wide enough that they could easily take the win. The MoonDogs went three up and three down in the bottom of the ninth, ending the game with a score of 16-9 for a Hot Tots victory.

Tuesday night was the second game in this week’s series against the MoonDogs.

Starting at $2.99/week.
