Hot Tots drop second game to Honkers

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Hot Tots played the Rochester Honkers on Monday June, 24 in the second game of their two game series after losing Sunday’s by a 7-8 score. The Honkers would win by a 5-2 score to close out the first series of the season between the teams.

The Honkers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning when Paul Schoenfeld scored off Easton Breyfogle putout to lead the game 1-0. Rochester added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth innings to take a 5-0 lead.

The fourth inning sequence started with Andrew Cain and Petey Craska scoring off Paul Schoenfeld single to right field to make it a 3-0 Honkers lead. The other two runs came as Grant Macarthur and Schoenfeld scored on Reiss Calvin double to right field.

The Hot Tots got on the board as Adam Berghult scored on Mateo Serna double to right field in the top of the fifth inning. Minot would add another run in the top of the sixth inning when Anthong Potestio scored on Tristan Moore’s bases-loaded walk.

The Hot Tots batted 7-for-33 and had zero errors in the game. Berghult batted 2-for-3 with one run scored and walked once. Serna batted 2-for-4 and had one RBI. Potestio batted 1-for-4 and scored a run. Cody Grebeck batted 1-for-3 and had a walk. Wyatt Reginato batted 1-for-3 . Moore had an RBI and had a walk. Shields had a walk.

Devin Marton pitched three and one-third innings, allowing one hit, three runs, eight walks and struck out four batters. Edwing Corrales pitched three and two-third innings, allowing four hits, two runs and struck out three batters. Ayden Sauerbrei pitched one inning and struck out one batter.

The Honkers batted 5-for-26 and had zero error in the game. Calvin batted 2-for-4, with two RBI and had one walk. Cain batted 1-for-2, with one run scored and had two walks. Macarthur batted 1-for-4 and scored one run. Craska scored one run and had two walks. Breyfogle had an RBI. Mungarrieta-Lorenzo had a walk.

Sam George pitched four and two-third innings, allowing five hits, one run, one walk and struck out three batters. Josiah Granados pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit, one run, three walks and struck out one batter. Aaron Mccurley pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit, one walk and struck out seven batters.

Minot faced the Willmar Stingers on Tuesday, June 25, and will play the Stingers again on Wednesday, June 26, before four games at home starting with the MoonDogs on Thursday, June 27, at Corbett Field.
