Adam Papin/MDN Des Lacs-Burlington’s Kashtyn Bredahl wrestles Acalia Olson of Hettinger/Scranton in the consolation semifinals of the West Region tournament on Friday at Minot State Univeristy Dome.

A number of area wrestlers punched their tickets to the 2024 NDHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championships on Thursday, at the Minot State University Dome. In total the top eight wrestlers in each weight class advanced to next weekend’s state tournament at Fargodome.

Minot High saw three girls crowned West Region champions. Hallie Nash won the 118-pound weight class with a win over Keisha Tomac of New Salem-Almont (Fall, 4:53). Madisyn Racine defeated Amaya Baptiste, of Kenmare-Bowbells, in a 7-6 decision. Finally, Kiera Aguilar defeated Lexi Beckler, of Bismarck High (Fall, 2:50).

“Overall, as a team, we’ve been doing pretty well,” said Minot girls’ wrestling head coach Mitchell Meyer. “The competition here was pretty tough and we were trying to do our best to hang in there and get girls as deep as we could in the tournament. I think we did what we needed to do.”

The state tournament will be held in Fargo from Thursday, Feb. 15 thru Saturday, Feb. 17.
