Sabre Dogs announce Keeran as new head coach
Michael Keeran joins the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs as the head coach for the 2022 season.
Coach Keeran is the current head coach of the Bismarck State College Mystics at the junior college level. The Mystics went 29-10 and won the MonDak conference championship and tournament. BCS was the Region 13 runner-up, and finished ranked in the top 25 in one poll.
In the summer of 2021, Keeran coached in the Prospect Collegiate League for the Lafayette Aviators. The Aviators went 45-20 and won the regular season league title. They won both half’s of the division championship in the Wabash River division.
The Aviators were regular season and postseason Eastern Conference Champions. The team took second in the league in the postseason format. Nine players from the Aviators moved on to play professional baseball.
During the summer of 2020, Coach Keeran was the head coach for Those Guys Baseball, and independent amateur team in Iowa. The team finished with the most wins in the state at 26-5, and had victories over teams in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
In the summer of 2019, Keeran was the head coach for the Bancroft Bandits in the Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League. The Bandits went on to win the league championship with a 33-5 record. During the summer of 2018, he was head coach of the Albert Lea Lakers in the Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League.
Keeran recruited a 25-man roster that went on to win the league championship with a 34-6 record. Keeran is 67-11 with two championships in two years as a head coach in the PCBL. Keeran has coached 12 professional baseball players and has former players in the following leagues: MLB affiliated, American Association, Frontier League, United Shores League, Pecos League, and International Professional Leagues.
Academically, Keeran obtained a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Waldorf University in Iowa. He completed his master’s degree in organizational leadership with a concentration in sports management from Waldorf University.
