The Minot High Majettes’ volleyball squad defeated Bismarck St. Mary’s in a thrilling four-set match Tuesday evening, taking the game 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21 on the road. The Majettes’ teamwork was instrumental in fighting off a competitive Saints squad that kept each set to within single-digit points.
“We had such a collective effort tonight and it was downright fun,” head coach Sherry Carlson said. “Our passing was great which allowed for some great offensive strikes. I am proud of them all.”
Eight Majettes combined for 50 kills on the night, led by Mariah Evenson’s 17. Micah Walter also tallied 11 kills, followed by Zoe Zarr’s 7, Mikkail Nehring’s 6 and Melayna Strand’s 4.
Cambry Frantsvog led the way in the ace column with six, Avery Lunde, Grace Sanders and Evenson each recorded two, and Sophia Egge rounded out Minot’s total of 13 with one of her own. Frantsvog also posted 35 total assists to make up the bulk of the Majettes’ total of 47.
Defensively, 10 Majettes produced at least one dig, led by Frantsvog’s 13 and Sanders’ 10. Nehring also added two solo blocks to lead the team in the category.
With the win, Minot remains unbeaten in WDA play, advancing to 2-0 since the Sept. 2 season-opener at the Magic City Campus. The Majettes have a brief turnaround period before their next contest, a home matchup against Bismarck Century with a scheduled 7 p.m. start time.
