The Des-Lacs Burlington/Lewis & Clark Lakers varsity softball team were back at home on Tuesday, Apr. 21, to take on Renville County. The Lakers handily defeated Renville County 11-1, with the Lakers’ sophomore pitcher, Emma Feller, throwing a no-hitter on the night.
The Lakers took their lead early with a drawn walk by freshman Jerzee Marquart on loaded bases in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Lily Schepp rounded out the inning with a two run RBI double to bring the Lakers to a 3-0 lead.
Renville County scored their one and only run of the game off of a walk, two stolen bases and a passed ball in the top of the second inning. From then on out, Feller and the rest of the Lakers’ offense kept Renville County from earning a hit through the rest of the game.
The Lakers scored three more runs in the bottom of the third off of an error, a passed ball and a fielder’s choice to bring their lead to 6-1.
The Lakers scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the fifth with senior Elyssa Lindahl closing out the game with an RBI ground out to the third baseman, allowing Piper Feller to score.
Tuesday’s game ended with an 11-1 victory for the Lakers.
The Lakers will get just a single day’s rest before they take on the Glenburn Panthers at home on Thursday, Apr. 23.
