Class A

Southern McLean 36, South Prairie 0

SOUTH PRAIRIE — An unbelievable start to the season for Southern McLean was a disastrous beginning for South Prairie. The Southern McLean Roughriders scored on its first offense play and first defense play to lead 14-0 after only 38 seconds.

Caden Germundson ran back a pick-six on the Royals’ first play from the line of scrimmage. South Prairie’s second snap was then fumbled away on their own 5-yard line. Roughriders senior running back Hunter Klindtworth punched in another touchdown on the next play.

Southern McLean’s defense kept South Prairie off the scoreboard, as the Roughriders carried that early momentum into a 36-0 shutout win on the road.

Dickinson Trinity 29, Bishop Ryan 27

DICKINSON — A safety off a sack of Nick Sanders in the end zone with 1:23 remaining in the fourth quarter allowed Dickinson Trinity to narrowly edge past Bishop Ryan.

The Titans scored the first 13 points before Jaxon Feller found the end zone late in the first quarters for the Lions. Ryan took a 14-13 lead into halftime on a 23-yard pass from Sanders to Zachary Hendrickson. The two connected again in the third quarter from 34 yards out to increase Ryan’s advantage to 21-13.

Trinity returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, but failed on the two-point try. Sanders found Logan Merck streaking down the middle of the field to get those six points back with five minutes left in the third quarter.

Pounding in a short fullback dive plus the two-point conversion, Trinity tied the score at 27-27 with 9:10 remaining. After the Titans had a short field goal block, they managed to get the winning points on an unlikely safety sack.
