Janene Haugen
April 6, 1940-Nov. 5, 2020
Janene Haugen, 80,
Minot, ND went home to
be with the Lord on Nov.
5, 2020. Janene was born
on April 6, 1940, daughter
of George & Pauline
Benedict. In her earlier
years, she lived in
Lonetree, ND and later
her family moved to Bert-
hold, ND, where she gra-
duated from Berthold
High School. After high
school, she attended col-
lege in Sioux Falls, SD,
where she attained a stan-
dard Teachers Degree.
She was once married
to Gary Haugen and from
that union they were
blessed with two children,
Tracy (who is now de-
ceased) and Jeani (hus-
band Mike) who live in
Minneapolis, MN. She
was also blessed with two
grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren whom she
loved dearly.
One of the joys of
Janene’s life was teaching
Elementary school in the
Minot school system
which she had the
privilege of doing for 37
and half years. She truly
enjoyed her students and
it was there that she met
some of her best friends
(fellow school teachers).
She would say some of
her fondest memories was
teaching and relating to
her students. Having the
privilege of being a part of
shaping and molding their
lives brought her great
fulfillment.
After retiring from the
teaching profession, she
worked at different cloth-
ing stores in Minot. As
the years went by it be-
came very apparent to her
that it would be wise to
sell her home and move
into an assisted living
center. Within a short
time, she moved into
Somerset Court where she
lived until her passing.
She considered herself
very blessed to be a
resident of Somerset and
so enjoyed the fellowship
and personal care given to
her. Janene touched
many lives and was loved
by many! A classy lady
she was!
Janene is survived by:
daughter Jeani (Mike)
Hynes, Minneapolis;

Velazquez (Mariely) and
