Robert “Bob” Johnson
Jan. 27, 1960 – Dec. 13, 2022
Robert Michael Johnson, 62, Minot, ND, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at a Minot Assisted Living Facility.
Robert “Bob” Michael Johnson was born January 27, 1960 a son of Donald and Sylvia (Rinke) Johnson in Breckenridge, MN. He was raised and educated in Breckenridge, before moving to Kenmare, ND, where he would spend his school years through his sophomore year. The family then moved to Dyersville, IA, where he graduated from high school in 1978.
On October 4, 1988, Bob was united in marriage to Rhonda Anderson. Through this union he received the honor of becoming a role model as dad to Shawn Anderson and in 1991, they were blessed with another son, Trevor. In 1987, Bob also began a career working for the City of Minot. He proudly worked up through the ranks and retired after 28 years of service, as a Captain for the Minot Fire Department. In addition, Bob worked as a contractor and owned his own company, RMJ Construction. He worked alongside his fellow fire fighters, until having to sell the business in 2014 due to health concerns.
Bob was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, even being a season ticket holder. Attending the games with his family, and doing the SKOL cheer was a favorite. He also enjoyed watching movies at the AMC Movie Theater at Dakota Square Mall. He had a specific routine, enjoying ice cream, popcorn, and a soda, often being referred to as “Boss-man” by the employees at the movie theater.
He loved his title as “Dad” and would often be referred to from other people. He was always willing to offer a room, right Trev? J (Trev had to sleep on the couch because his room was given to someone else). He was active with his son’s IMCA racing, driving the truck to races, working as a pitman, or just buzzing around making friends. In addition to racing, Bob enjoyed snowmobiling and jet skis. He built a skate park in the heated garage so all the kids would have a place to go in the winter.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (his grandkids meant the world to him), brother and friend and will be missed by all that knew him. Our family would like to thank Travis Seifert for all the friendship and support he gave Bob throughout his illness.
Those attending the service are encouraged to wear Vikings gear or the gear of their favorite sports team.
His loving family includes: Rhonda Johnson; sons, Shawn (Jenna) Anderson and Trevor (Kayla) Johnson; grandchildren, Bradyn, Daxton, Harper, Luka, Keagan (her mom Rachel Jellison) and Elijah; mother and father-in-law Roger and Annie Jensen, sister, Dawn (Bruce) Byrd; sister-in-law Sue (Jim), brother-in-law Steve (Sharlet) nephews, Dustin (Alix), Adam (Kara), Zachary (Jessica) and Sam (Mariah), Scott (Tabaya) and Stacie (Troy) and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom and grandparents and nephew Shane Jensen.
