Anna “Ann” Brossart
Nov. 11, 1936 – Dec. 19, 2022
Anna “Ann” Adelaide Brossart was born November 11, 1936 to Nick and Magdalena (Voeller) Brossart in Rugby, ND. She was raised on the family farm near Tunbridge, ND, five miles NW of Rugby. Ann attended a rural school through grade 8, then continued her education by attending one year in Balta, ND and completing her GED through correspondence.
Ann lived briefly in Devils Lake working at Ramsey National Bank, prior to moving to Minot in the mid 1960’s. She worked in banking as bookkeeper and customer relations officer until her retirement from First Western Bank and Trust in 1999.
Ann moved into Edgewood Assisted Living in 2018. She was a fighter, not only did she struggle with mobility issues and increasing weakness, but she fought through three different bouts of cancer. After a transfer to Trinity Homes at the end of October 2022, Ann found peace and comfort on Monday, December 19th 2022, when she went to her eternal rest in Jesus.
Cats were a big part of Ann’s life. She volunteered at the Souris Valley Animal Shelter and adopted her pets from there. First there were Toby and Tasha, then Duffy and finally Kiko. Ann doted on her cats and was heartbroken when she could no longer care for Kiko. She was able to enjoy a few short videos of Kiko settling into her new home the week before Ann passed.
Ann enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and corresponding with friends and family. For many years, she and her siblings and their families would get together for the 4th of July. Friends, co-workers and family extended many invitations for lunch dates or sharing Thanksgiving or Holiday meals, which she eagerly accepted until her mobility issues prevented her from getting out.
Ann is survived by her brothers, Edward Brossart and Nick (Gloria) Brossart, Rugby, ND; sister Elizabeth “Betty”, Grand Forks (formerly from Devils Lake, ND); sisters-in-law, Marsha Brossart, Grand Forks, ND, and Joyce Brossart, Scottsdale, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tony, Daniel, Raymond, Adalbert “Al”, and Tom; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Leonard Massine; sisters, Viola Collins, Monica Devine and Marcella Brossart; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Brossart and Phyllis Brossart.
A Graveside service will be held spring of 2023 at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
Memorials are preferred to Souris Valley Animal Shelter or to the donor’s preference.
