Frances Bauch

June 16, 1927 – Nov. 3, 2022

Frances Bauch, 95, Max, formerly of Minot, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at her home.

Frances was born on June 16, 1927 on the family farm in Iota Flat Township to John and Apka (Emats) Hayko. She was the youngest of six living siblings. Frances went to school in a one room schoolhouse about a half mile from the family farm through the 8th grade. She then attended high school in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1946. Frances attended Minot Teacher’s College for one year for a secretarial course. After college, she moved to Great Falls, MT where she found employment and met her future husband, Daniel Bauch. They were united in marriage on March 15, 1950.

In the fall of 1950, the couple moved to Max, ND to start farming and raising a family. They were the parents of six children, Cynthia, Eugene, Ronald, Marvonne, Richard, and Roger. In 1978, they received the North Dakota Soil Conservation Achievement Award. Daniel passed away on April 12, 1983. Frances continued living on the farm for a few more years before moving to Minot. After being displaced by the flood of 2011, she moved back to Max and has resided there ever since.

Frances was a caretaker who was a very good cook, and excellent seamstress, and a great singer. She was a creative talent who taught herself how to play piano and was both amazed and scared of modern technology. Frances also loved gardening, canning, and planting flowers. She also enjoyed fishing and wildlife of all kinds, especially birds. Frances also loved metal detecting.

Frances is survived by her children, Cynthia Beckstrand, of Warwick, ND Ronald, of Max, Marvonne Hromas, of Lincoln, NE, Richard, of Billings, MT, and Roger, Velva, ND; 10 granchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel; son, Eugene; and siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Minot. Burial will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9 from 5-7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot.
