Maysa Arena expansion moving forward

Minot’s Maysa Arena is one step closer to undergoing its expansion project.

Maysa will add a third sheet of ice to its facility, with seating for around 2,000 and standing capacity for around 300 people, making a total capacity of 2,300. In addition to the new sheet of ice, there will be a walking area, concessions, locker rooms and more.

It is two weeks into the advertising bid and a date has been set for a bid opening during the first week of September.

Ron Merritt, Minot’s Director of Parks, said if the bid comes in at an agreeable rate, the expansion will begin this fall. It is projected that the expansion will take about a year, and hockey players will hopefully be able to play in the new rink by fall of 2016.

The estimate for the Park District runs at around $2.75 million, while the total cost of the Maysa Arena expansion is estimated at $11.2 million.

Starting at $2.99/week.
