Postponements and cancellations this weekend for winter sports

With the recent dusting of snow and difficult road conditions, numerous high school sporting activities this weekend have been postponed or canceled. As of Thursday evening, here is the current situation for local teams and events.

Minot High School has postponed both varsity basketball games against Jamestown. The Magi were scheduled to host the Blue Jays tonight while the Majettes were scheduled to play in Jamestown.

The Minot High wrestling team will not be traveling to compete in the Rumble on the Red wrestling meet in Fargo.

The MHS boys hockey team will not be making the trip to Minnesota for the three-day tournament at Roseau High School.

The MHS girls hockey team, however, will still be continuing its tournament at Maysa Arena this week. The junior varsity (JV) teams for Minot High and Williston will play at 5 p.m. today with Mandan against Williston varsity teams to follow at 7:30 p.m. The Majettes varsity team will host Williston at 5 p.m. on Saturday following the conclusion of the JV game between Minot and Mandan at 2:30 p.m.

The Minot Minotauros are still scheduled to play a three-game series against the Bismarck Bobcats this weekend. The Minotauros are in Bismarck today and Monday. In between those two games, Minot will host the Bobcats on Saturday evening at Maysa Arena after the Majettes’ hockey game.

The boys basketball Hoopster Classic and Dale Brown Classic, which are being held today and tomorrow, are still on at the Minot State Dome. A schedule of the six games being played each day can be found page C2.

Minot State will also be welcoming rival U-Mary on Sunday for a pair of basketball games. The women will play at 2 p.m. with the men to follow at 4 p.m.
