Pedestrian identified in highway fatality

A pedestrian killed on U.S. Highway 83 after being struck by a motorist Saturday has been identified as Jordan Hagerott, 30, of Mandan.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Hagerott was walking from Minot to Mandan and was in the roadway at the crest of a hill about 15 miles south of Minot when he was struck by a Ford pickup in the right-hand lane. Earlier reports had incorrectly indicated the accident happened near Max.

Hagerott was thrown onto an approach on the west side of the roadway. The pickup driver, Marshall Hofstad, 22, of Cologne, Minn., and a passenger were traveling from Minot to Underwood and pulled over after striking Hagerott. The incident happened about 1:19 a.m.

The accident remains under investigation.
