Garrison Diversion awards area recreation grants

The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District’s Recreation Committee recently awarded matching recreation grants to 23 projects, totaling $657,865.

“Our requests for the spring funding session were at an all-time high, and we were able to provide grant funds to a large number of deserving projects both big and small,” Committee Chairman Larry Kassian said.

Area projects receiving matching funds are:

– Bottineau County, $50,000 for a snow system at Bottineau Winter Park.

– City of Maxbass, $31,141 for the Maxbass Community Park.

– Anamoose, $9,071 to the Anamoose Park Board to install new swingsets.

– Turtle Lake Park District, $2,356 for new picnic tables at Lake Brekken.

– McLean County, $875 for the Sportsmens Centennial Park vault toilet project.

– Mohall Park District, $37,500 for the Mohall Adult Recreation Complex.

– North Dakota State Fair, $50,000 for new equipment at the West Park Playground.

– Surrey Park District, $10,875 for a pickleball court at Pony Tracks Park.

– Wells County, $9,372 for a comfort station at the Manfred Park.

– Williston Parks & Recreation District, $50,000 for Phase 3 of the Coyote Clay Target Range and $27,688 to enhance the existing frisbee golf course and update restrooms at Spring Lake Park.

– Sunset Park District, $5,000 for a pre-K playground at Grenora Park.
