Mankato hits two HRs for game three win

The Minot Honeybees hosted the Mankato Habaneros for the second set of doubleheaders at COrbett Field. In game three, the Habaneros posted three runs at the top of the first inning and another five runs at the top of the sixth for the 8-2 win.

Minot scored one run in the bottom of the third inning of play when Trinity Gregg was walked, Cairah Curran singled and Shannon Nelson was walked to load the bases with one out. Sydney Farmer hit a grounder that scored Gregg.

The Honeybees had started to swing the momentum in the favor of Minot when Mankato had two home runs hit at the top of the sixth inning. Sailor Hall hit hers first with two on base and one out. Serena Timmer hit hers next with two out and one runner on base.

Minot would score one more run at the bottom of the seventh when Curran hit a sacrifice fly to score Josie Buhr who was on base from a single hit to center field to start the inning.

Minot was 5-for-25 at the plate with one error as a team. Curran, Nelson, Kierra Fournier, Buhr and Victoria Flores each had a hit for the Honeybees. Jasmine Blizzard pitched all seven innings and allowed eight runs- seven earned, on nine hits, two strikeouts and two home runs in the game.

Mankato was 9-for-29 batting with one error as a team. Amity White was 3-for-4 at the plate while Indigo Fish was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the win.

The Honeybees and Habaneros played game four with results unpublished prior to print time.

Mankato scored three runs at the top of the first inning of play, two runs at the top of the third, three at the top of the fourth and two more at the top of the fifth inning for the 10-0 win at Corbett Field in game two of the back-to-back doubleheaders.

Minot was 4-for-20 at the plate with three team errors in the game. Shannon Nelson, Shayna Myshrall, Arianna Diaz and Kierra Fournier each had a hit in the game. Jackie Albrecht pitched three innings and allowed five runs on three hits, walked five batters and recorded four strikeouts. Peyton Whitehead pitched two innings and allowed five hits on six runs with two strikeouts.

Mankato was 8-for-24 batting with two team errors. Amity White was 2-for-3 while Paige Zender, Sailor Hall, Indigo Fish, Jessa Snippes, Serena Timmer and Joscelyn Bennett each had a hit. Jenna Sprague pitched five innings and allowed four hits, walked three batters and recorded three strikeouts.
