Magi sweep Midgets, start season 6-0

The visiting Dickinson Midgets were overwhelmed in the first game, losing 14-4 and made a hard stand in game two with the Magi getting the 3-2 win in the end.

Game one was the Easton Panesuk show where he was 3-3 at the plate and added three RBIs in the win. Kellan Burke and Branden Nelson were both 2-4 batting with Nelson adding three RBIs as well.

Carson Deaver pitched four innings and had four runs on seven hits for his start. Jagger Swartwout closed out the game with an inning of work and had no runs with one hit for the Magi. As a team, Minot High was 10-25 batting and had no errors in the win.

Game two was a battle to the end from the mound for both teams. The Magi had a 1-0 lead after the first inning and added two runs in the fourth before the Midgets added two runs at the top of the fifth inning. The sixth and seventh innings were about pitching for Minot High. Teegan Strand closed out the last two innings with no runs and no hits stemming from his four strikeouts.

Burke and Parker Hann were both 2-3 batting while Tegan Schindler was 1-2 at the plate. Nelson added an RBI on a sacrifice hit in the battle.

Adam Roedocker had five innings of work and allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

As a team, Minot High went 5-21 batting with two batters being walked. The Magi had four errors in the second game. Dickinson did have six hits and no errors in game two but were unable to turn those hits into enough runs to win the game.

Minot High will be at Jamestown Friday, April 12, while Dickinson will travel to St Mary’s the same day.
