Local teams participate in Battle at the Bubble

The second annual Battle in the Bubble concluded on Saturday, with several local teams picking up keys on the day, including Des Lacs-Burlington who run-ruled Kindred before defeating the Northern Cass Jaguars.

South Prairie-Max 14, Bishop Ryan 5

In the first game of the day the South Prairie-Max Royals jumped out to an early 8-3 lead over the Bishop Ryan Lions after three innings. That lead was extended despite a pair of runs by the Lions in the fourth inning to give the Royals the 14-5 win.

McBride was 2-2 at the plate with three RBI for South Prairie while Hankle and Rau each were 2-3 with a combined three RBI as well. O Johnson pitched the game and allowed five runs on eight hits in the win.

Tayler Christianson was 2-2 at the plate and had three RBI for the Lions. Bentley Schneider pitched one inning and allowed one run on three hits while Kirstin Brunner covered three innings and allowed eight runs on 13 hits in the loss.

Bishop Ryan (1-1) wil host Ray next on Thursday, April 11 while South Prairie-Max will host Central McLean today.

Des Lacs-Burlington 16, Kindred/Richland 5

The Des Lacs Burlington Lakers carried a 1-0 lead over the Kindred-Richland Vikings, before both teams’ offenses erupted in the third inning combining for seven runs in the inning. The Lakers proved the only team able to sustain the outburst, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fifth-inning to secure the win.

Logen Ystaas went 3-5 at the plate, scoring three runs, while teammate Piper Feller was 2-2 with five RBI and Sierra Yale was 2-2, also recording three RBI to lead the Lakers offensively.. Yale also pitched four innings and allowed four runs on three hits, while Jerzee Marquart closed out the game, allowing one run on no hits for the win.

Leah Rolland and Cora Johnson each went 1-3 at the plate for Kindred. Danice Rath pitched one inning and allowed five runs on two hits, while Johnson pitched three innings and allowed eight runs on six hits in the loss.

The Vikings travel to Hankinson-Fairmount-Rosholt-Campbell/Tintah-Lidgerwood on Tuesday, April 9 for their next game.

Des Lacs-Burlington 9, Northern Cass 7

The Northern Cass Jaguars jumped out to a four run lead in the top of the first inning, forcing the Lakers to fight their way back to a 6-6 game going into the sixth inning. The Jaguars were able to score and the Lakers trailed by a score of 7-6 forcing Des Lacs-Burlington to come from behind again to tie the game or take a lead. Mya Neshem tripled and Gretchen Deaver singled to score three runs and take the lead. Sierra Yale then closed out the top of the seventh to give the Lakers the hard fought win.

Ystaas and Zannah Bjerklie were both 2-3 from the plate with a combined two RBIs while Neshem was 2-4 with three RBI in the effort. Both Yale and Deaver were 1-4 batting and added a combined two RBIs as well. Yale pitched the entire game and allowed seven runs on six hits in the win.

Macy Murch went 2-3 batting for the Jaguars and Reese Laaveg was 1-3 while Avery Davidson went 1-4 from the plate. Addisyn Winterquest pitched one inning and allowed four runs on four hits while Brooklyn Holland pitched four and allowed five runs on six hits in the effort.

The Lakers will travel to Washburn today while the Jaguars will be at Central Cass Tuesday, April 9 for their next game.
