Thursday afternoon marked the start of a new beginning in the Magic City. The Minot Park District, along with Magic City Girls Fast Pitch announced the official opening of the Scheels Complex.

Formerly known as South Hill Softball Complex, Scheels Complex and its renovations feature a new press box, concession stand, locker rooms and safety nettings spread throughout the complex.

“A project like this is made possible because of our amazing partners in Magic City Girls Fast Pitch and the generous support of our community,” said Elly DesLauriers, Executive Director of Minot Park District, through a press release. “We are excited to cut the ribbon today and welcome all the players, coaches and fans to this beautiful facility.”

Being home to Magic City Girls Fast Pitch, Minot High Fast Pitch, Minot State Fast Pitch and Bishop Ryan Fast Pitch, the Scheels Complex and its renovations will be of great use to not only the athletes and coaches, but to spectators as well.

In addition to the prep and college teams that play there, Scheels Complex also is home to Minot Park District baseball and t ball leagues, and the Dream Catchers field is located there.

A generous donation by Scheels, as well as community donations and fundraising by Magic City Girls Fast Pitch made the project possible.
