MSU women’s wrestling lands second recruit Goebel

Earlier this month, Minot State women’s wrestling coach Brittney Mitchem introduced Nina Sandoval as the inaugural member of the Beavers program.

Now Sandoval has a teammate.

Minot State’s head coach, Mitchem, is pleased to announce that Carolyn Goebel from Mandan, North Dakota, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent and becomes the second member of the Beaver women’s wrestling program, which begins competition in the 2022-23 academic year.

“Carolyn is a great kid and will work very hard for us,” coach Mitchem said. “I am excited to get the chance to coach her and have a local athlete join our team.”

The senior at Mandan High School who wrestles at 130 pounds will be a freshman in the classroom and on the mats next academic year for the Beavers. Goebel is a two-time state placer and member of the North Dakota Girls National Team who also was a contender at the Fargo Nationals this past year. She also is a captain of her wrestling team who also serves as a youth coach in her spare time.
