Makarchuk’s fourth-place finish leads MSU Men’s Golf at Hardrocker Invitational

The Minot State University men’s golf team finished 60 over as a group to place fourth in the Hardrocker Spring Classic at South Dakota Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota Tuesday afternoon.

Andrew Makarchuk finished tied for fourth (10 over) with rounds of 78 and 74 for a 152 during 36 holes of action over the last two days. He posted birdies on 10, 11, 14, and 18 during the back-nine of today’s second-round action. The outstanding back-nine led to a three-over performance on the day. 

Makarchuk recorded three birdies during the first round of play yesterday and finished seven over (78) for the opening 18 holes. He rose four spots with the second-lowest round amongst the field during the final day of action.

Cody Reynolds finished 11th with rounds of 81 and 74 over the last two days for a 13 over performance during the event. He posted two birdies; one on eight and a two-spot on a par 3 hole 13. He recorded an even back nine during the second and final round of the day’s action. 

Reynolds posted an 81 during yesterday’s first round of play with two bogeys and one double-bogey on the front nine and three bogeys along with one triple bogey on the back nine of play. 

Sid Ullyott had a strong showing and finished tied for 17th overall with a 17 over after rounds of 79 and 80 including a round of nine over during the final day of action. Aimery Barrault posted rounds of 82 (round 1) and 80 (round 2) for 20 over and finished tied for 25th. 

Easton Evanoff finished tied for 36 with 27 over after an 11 over second day and rounds of 87 and 82. 

Both the men’s and women’s golf teams did an excellent job handling tough weather conditions over the past 48 hours at the Hardrocker Invitational. 

This was the final regular-season tournament for the men’s golf team before the NSIC Championships on Apr. 16-18 in Kansas City, Missouri.
