Magi and Majettes cross country claim third-place finishes at Heen/Ihmels Invite

WILLISTON — The Minot High School cross country teams kicked off their seasons with third-place performances at the Heen/Ihmels Invite on Saturday in Williston. Here’s a closer look at how both Minot squads fared.

Magicians

Dickinson (27 points) and Williston (30) earned the top two spots, while Minot finished third (98). Six Magi finished in the top 30.

Junior Grant Schaeffer finished with the Magicians’ best time (18:30.51) and secured tenth place. Fellow junior Oscar Hultz (19:20.92) captured the No. 16 position.

Senior Jacob Hight (20:40.22), junior Everett Aberle (21:15.20) and senior Bryce Rose (21:33.93) locked up the No. 23, 24 and 25 spots. Senior Luke Peterson (22:02.19) finished 27th.

Majettes

Williston (29 points) led the field, while Watford City (57) finished in second place. Minot (70) finished ahead of Dickinson (80).

Five Majettes claimed top-20 finishes. Sophomore Trinity Jessen (20:20.20) led the group, while junior MaLiah Burke (23:42.10) took the No. 14 spot.

Eighth-grader Piper Erickson (23.55.93) and freshman Maicee Burke (23:58.01) seized the respective No. 16 and No. 17 positions. Seventh-grader Cynthia Schroeder (24:24.82) finished in 20th place.

Both teams are off next weekend. The squads will resume their seasons at the Mandan Kiwanis Invite on Friday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m.
