Majettes hockey captures 5-1 win over Dickinson

The Minot High School girls hockey team bounced back from a two-game losing streak by defeating Dickinson 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Minot (9-7-2, 7-7-2 WDA) bookended the win over the Midgets (2-14-1, 1-11-WDA) with two goals apiece in the first and third periods.

Abby Tallman and Kaya Shaw struck for the Majettes in the first period. Both goals were unassisted, and the Majettes carried a 2-1 lead into the second frame.

Taylyn Cope increased Minot’s lead with her second-period goal. Tallman and O’Malley Eslinger provided the assists.

The Majettes, not finished, received scoring contributions from Alyssa Enns and Paige Ackerman in the final frame. Minot junior goaltender Amber Borkhuis recorded 11 saves.

Dickinson’s Taylor Reap tallied the Midgets’ lone goal.

Minot will host Fargo North for a 5 p.m. puck drop on Friday. That game will mark the first of a two-game homestand.
