Magi swim & dive claims Mandan Pentathlon
MANDAN — The Minot High School boys swimming & diving team earned its fourth win to start the season with a convincing victory at the Mandan Pentathlon.
The defending state champion Magicians scored 351 points to beat out the likes of Century (236), Mandan (190), Legacy (84), Dickinson (31) and Bismarck High (28).
The six-event meet was comprised of the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle and 1-meter dive.
Minot won half of the events with victories coming from William Walker-Rozo (butterfly), Grant Schaeffer (100 freestyle) and Zac Spaulding (50 freestyle).
Other Magi top-three finishes included Dominic Yoder (second, backstroke), Jack Wolsky (second, breaststroke), Layton King (second, diving), Griffin Schaeffer (third, breaststroke) and Grant Schaeffer (third, 50 freestyle).
Minot takes its winning streak into Bismarck on Jan. 3 before hosting its first dual at 11 a.m. against Mandan on Jan. 4.
