Tauros overwhelmed by Aberdeen Wings

Alex Eisen/MDN Aberdeen Wings forward Joe Strada (14) looks to make a pass around Minotauros defenseman Levi Kleiboer (18) in an NAHL game played Friday evening at Maysa Arena.

After getting shut out by the Central Division leading Aberdeen Wings the night prior, 3-0, the Minot Minotauros were hoping for a better showing Friday evening at Maysa Arena.

While the Minotauros at least got on the scoreboard, the final score wasn’t any better as the Aberdeen Wings (20-5-2) completed the two-game sweep with a 7-1 victory.

The Minotauros (17-11-1) gave up the opening goal two minutes and 20 seconds into the game to Joe Strada. Max Salpeter, Nic Sicoly and Tim Makowski built off that by also finding the back of the net for Aberdeen in the first period.

Sandwiched between Aberdeen’s four first period goals was the sixth goal of the season for Minotauros forward Vince Marino, assisted by Levi Kleiboer.

John Sladic become the Wings’ fifth different goal scorer with the only goal in the second period to put Aberdeen up 5-1. Connor Beatty become No. 6 in the third period, scoring his sixth goal of the season.

Sladic broke the streak by scoring his second goal of the game on the power play with 7:06 remaining, 7-1. Aberdeen outshot Minot, 36-29.

Minot returns to action Dec. 28 on the road against the Bismarck Bobcats. The final home game of the calendar year at Maysa Arena will be Dec. 29 in a rematch against the Bobcats.
