A lesson in flag etiquette

Mary Ellen Huff

Minot

Sept. 10th edition of Minot Daily: Publisher Bob Patchen wrote ‘his opinion’ under the guise of ‘Our Opinion’. Bob, your opinion speaks not for the majority. Fight for sexual freedom in your own bedroom and cease using God’s Word out of context.

Mayor Sipma, it is fine to feel sympathy toward individuals who may feel displaced. Here my sympathy ends for you. Minot elected you to serve wisely. Now our City pays a price for your ignorance, and as a result this hornet’s nest will not be easily dispatched. Please, will someone from VFW or American Legion give this boy a pamphlet of our country’s ‘Flag Etiquette’!

How dare anyone compare a rainbow flag flaunting sexual preferences and desires, to a POW (Prisoner of War) or any other military flag! Our country’s flag, when flown at half-staff on memorial observances, is done out of respect and honor of our fallen soldiers, their families, and moments when our country has struggled through trying times since its first battle to become the greatest country in the world. The only other flag to be flown at City Hall would be the ND State Flag, placed under our American Flag. Flags of other countries should never be flown on our government poles with our American Flag.

Quite bluntly, the rainbow flag was created to flaunt the sexual desires and preferences of a minuscule percentage of our country’s population. This is not “hate speech,” it’s a simple fact spelled out in their chosen title, ‘LGBTQ+’. Most suffer from gender dysphoria as their true inner person wars within. If one must bully and force others to accept one’s life choices, it simply reveals you are not at peace with yourself.
