Fireworks are out of control

Milton Vanerstrom, Minot

Independence Day is a very important day in American history. Fireworks on the Fourth of July is like Santa at Christmas. Most of us have enjoyed shooting off fireworks at some time in our life. It is one of the traditions that people enjoy.

The only problem is the city of Minot has an ordinance no shooting fireworks in the city limits. Well, I live on 13th Street Northwest and it sounded like we were in a war zone until 2:30 in the morning. We made two of the 58 calls to the police that evening with no results.

If the police can’t control the situation, change the ordinance. I understand Wahpeton allows the shooting of fireworks until 10 p.m. After that fines would be in order. Let’s keep our Fourth of July a happy day.
