Kathy Schoenberg, 64,
Minot, ND, passed away
Friday, June 29, 2018, in a
Minot Care Center.
Kathy McFarlen was
born October 15, 1953,
the daughter of Roy and
Olive (Johnson) McFarlen,
in Minot. She was raised
and educated in Minot
and attended Minot High
School.
Kathy was once married
to Dennis Heath and from
this union one daughter,
Denise, was born. The
couple would later di-
vorce.
In 1975, Kathy and her
two year old daughter met
Darrel Schoenberg. They
were together for a
number of years before
being married on October
23, 1981 in Minot. They
continued to make their
home in Minot for the
duration of their married
lives.
Kathy worked in food
services at a number of lo-
cations in the Minot area
including Famous Fried
Chicken and Burger King,
where she worked for
over 40 years.
Darrel passed away
March 16, 2000.
Kathy was a member of
Christ Lutheran Church of
Minot and a former
member of the Royal Ord-
er of the Moose.
From a young age,
Kathy was active in play-
ing softball with her
cousins as a pitcher. She
and Darrel enjoyed spend-
ing time in their camper
on the lake in Garrison,
ND, roller skating at the
roller rink, bowling and
attending motor races.
Family was very impor-
tant to Kathy, she helped
to raise her three grand-
children as well as caring
for her parents later life.
She was best friends with
her cousin, Donna Jensen,
and together they enjoyed
attending the annual
reunion with the rest of
their cousins.
Surviving family in-
cludes: Daughter, Denise
Olson, Minot; grandchil-
dren, Samantha Heath,
Joshua Heath and Nicho-
las Thiel, all of Minot;
brothers, Gary McFarlen,
Denver, CO and Roy
McFarlen, Minot; brother-
in-law, Tom Mahoney,
OH; and numerous
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Kathy was preceded in
death by her parents; hus-
band, Darrel Schoenberg;
brother, Keith McFarlen;
sisters, Carolyn Mahoney
and Karen (Richard, Sr.)
McDonah; and sisters-in-
law, Cathy McFarlen and
Sharon McFarlen.
Funeral: Friday, July 6,
2018, at 10:00 a.m. at
Christ Lutheran Church,
Minot, ND.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: Thursday
from 4 to 7 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
