Catherine Zeretzke
Catherine A. Zeretzke, 91, of Deering, died Monday, July 13, 2015, of natural causes, in her home.
Catherine was born Jan. 25, 1924, the daughter of Louis Elm and Margaret (Cruthers) Elm on her parents’ farm by Glenburn in Elm Township. She attended Lansford High School and graduated in 1942. She worked as a telephone operator for Leland Parker Hotel for seven years. She met Donald Zeretzke on July 4, 1945. They were married at the Ward County Courthouse on Jan. 25, 1949. Donald and Catherine had five children.
Catherine enjoyed reading and doing the daily crossword puzzle in the morning newspaper. She also enjoyed baking and Catherine’s family grew to look forward to her baking of bread twice a week. Donald and Catherine traveled to their home in Arizona for the winters for several years, a tradition that Catherine carried on even after Donald’s passing. They lived and farmed for 55 years in Deering at the location where Donald came to rest on June 15, 2004.
She is survived by: sons, James Zeretzke, Mi- not, and Dan Zeretzke, Deering; daughter, Susan Retzlaff, Fargo; seven grandchildren, Shaun, Gabriel and Joseph Retzlaff, Jodi Wyse, Angel Aakre, Jordan and Logan Zeretz- ke; and six great-grand- children, Alexis Bourassa, Riley Retzlaff, Nolan Johnson, Cora Wyse, Gavin Wyse and Payton Wyse.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; sons, Larry and John Henry Zeretzke; brothers, Matthias, Lawr- ence and John Elm; and sisters, Marie Alg, Francis Lang, Margaret Mosser and Regina Iverson.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Beth- any Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, July 17, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
