NDHP releases identification of those in recent crashes

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the identifications of those involved in three recent fatal crashes and two injury crashes that occurred in recent days.

Keith Melby, 72, Kenmare, died from injuries sustained when the dump truck he was driving and a BNSF train collided at 93rd Street Northwest and 69th Avenue Northwest, rural Bowbells, Thursday, May 28.

David St. Claire, 49, Dunseith, died from injuries sustained when the Chevrolet Silverado pickup he was driving failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree at 9881 28th Avenue Northeast at Dunseith Tuesday, Saturday, May 30.

Mark Eliason, 22, New Town, died from injuries when the GMC Sierra pickup he was driving and a Ford Expedition collided at U.S. Highway 2 and 67th Avenue Northwest, about five miles east of Palermo, Monday, June 1. Monah Lee, 59, Minot, driver of the Ford Expedition, received minor injuries.

Juan Ramos, 55, Hialeah, Florida, was treated at a Valley City hospital when he was stung by hundreds of bees following a collision of the semi he was driving and a Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by a 15-year-old male juvenile from Valley City on Interstate 94 at Valley City Thursday, May 28. The name of the juvenile was not released. When Ramos swerved to avoid collision with the Silverado, the semi, hauling about 600-800 bee hives with an estimated 2 million bees, overturned, and hives were damaged and bees escaped.

James Longtin, 58, Neche, was injured when the Harley Davidson trike he was driving hit broken pavement and rolled over on N.D. Highway 15, 11 miles northwest of McHenry, Saturday, May 30.

The crashes remain under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
